The pattern is based on an old china doll
body. This design, called a Steuber type body, features a
specially constructed seat to help the doll sit nicely. Leather
boots and striped stockings are sewn as part of the doll. This
all-cloth doll also features applied ears and stitched fingers.
The dress is a mid-19th century design. It is all cut from
rectangles, artfully gathered and draped. Underwear pattern is
included. Finished height of doll is 21 inches.
Painted cloth doll workshop will be held at
Timeless Treasures. It will be a two day event. Both oil paints and acrylics are used. Each
participant makes a doll and paints the head, arms, and
legs. In the workshop we focus on the painting aspect of
the project. Some of the painting techniques are adapted
from the “Old Masters”, and some are Susan Fosnot's methods. Each
step of the painting is demonstrated. Classes are kept
small, so individual help is always available.
Provided for workshop participants:
All paints and mediums
Original doll pattern,
including patterns for clothing
